MINUTES OF JUNE 15, 2006 MEETING

Call to Order: 7:05 PM
Minutes of May 18, 2006 meeting: Reviewed / Accepted.
Unfinished Business
a. Omelia Road property: Awaiting transfer out of Denise Napier’s office and then goes
to Land Management for final review.
b. Mansions on Scantic: Identified area to be given if project is completed.
c. Mission Statement update: Will remain the same.
d. Master Plan update: Focus is giving way to the tributaries such as the Scantic River rather than the Connecticut.
e. EW River Guide: Still a work in progress to match detail info to river’s course.
f. Canoe Trips on Scantic: No dates yet, but much discussion.
g. Flood (River Review): AGAIN more rain, more high water, another trip needed to see
if areas of snags still there or any new ones presented.
h. Trail Markers: None placed at this time, but trail is being used.
i. New Members: Ed Farrell is considering possibly getting involved.
j. Fields Pond Foundation: Member Kristen working on writing a grant for her project,
and Ed Farrell is also working on writing a grant.
Old Business
a. Archives will be reviewed looking for history regarding the shipwreck at mouth of the Scantic.
New Business
a. Letter in support of the Town’s purchase of 41 acres on Rye Street was signed by
Chair D. Sherman after Commission’s review. This acreage touches the Scantic.
